How Inpatient Drug Rehab Works

Drug rehab comes in many different packages. One of the first decisions people have to make is whether to attend inpatient or outpatient treatment. There are numerous benefits to inpatient rehab for people who are seeking recovery. Inpatient drug rehab programs like ours include medically supervised detox and an integrated mental health plan that comprehensively outlines all the services you will receive while in residence. Our medical professionals will supervise detox and recovery, which is the safest way to obtain successful, long-term sobriety.

Residential care also provides momentum to the recovery process and readies patients to continue treatment on an outpatient basis once the residential program ends. Data show that people with substance use disorders are in a more stable place for ongoing recovery after an inpatient program than people who have only experienced outpatient treatment, or none at all.

Pennsylvania Adult & Teen Challenge (PAATC) offers both options. You have many factors to consider in order to make that choice, and our staff is here to guide you through these and other options. If you are ready to learn more, call us at 844.442.8673 or fill out our online form.

Residential Addiction Recovery

When you begin inpatient treatment, our professional clinicians and the entire support team get to know you and your specific situation. They will dive into your medical, mental health, and substance use history in order to create your treatment plan. They will ask you to sign confidentiality waivers if you are willing so that we can consult your medical and mental health care provider. Coordination of care and continuity of care after discharge are vital for success. Involving your family is something we also like to do, with your permission. Your team includes people who will help you on your recovery journey.

Once you are under our roof for your inpatient rehab, the first stage is detox. We monitor this process closely to relieve detox symptoms and ensure that you stay safe and as comfortable as possible.

On the other side of detox, you will find yourself in an environment conducive to your budding sobriety as you begin treatment. You will participate in some or all of the following:

In addition, exercise and yoga, as well as other wellness practices, are available throughout your inpatient stay. All the while, our compassionate staff will be available to answer your questions and support you, ensure that you receive nutritious meals, and provide a protected, benign environment in which you can heal.

Short-Term Clinical Treatment

The ability to focus on recovery in a residential setting is a great benefit. However, not everyone can manage a long-term inpatient protocol. That’s why there is a short-term residential option that provides the benefits of inpatient care while offering a plan more compatible with busy lives.

Short-term residential treatment is helpful to some clients because it is more affordable while still offering an intensive focus on recovery and because it requires less time away from home. If you cannot manage a long-term disruption to work, family, or other personal responsibilities, short-term treatment may benefit you.

Faith-Based Treatment

One of the hallmarks of PAATC’s rehab programs is that we base our treatment on the tenents of Christianity. Our clients can rely on their faith, and our programs align with the principles of 12-step programs that acknowledge our shared faith.

Our philosophy rests on core values that include compassion, dignity, and excellence. These values provide a foundation on which we build all our programs. Everyone who struggles with addiction has hope for recovery through inspiration from the teachings of Jesus Christ and being in a relationship with Him.

PAATC Has a Rehab Program That is Right for You

No matter what forms of treatment and therapy are part of your inpatient—or outpatient—plan, all our service offerings are evidence-based and conducted by trained, caring professionals.
